How do I fill in the message description, sample messages and links on my 10DLC plan?

A person at the carrier reads what you type, so it must be accurate and make sense to someone who knows nothing about your business.

  1. Give the plan a name. This is for you.
  2. Describe honestly the types of messages you will send, such as marketing, customer service and replies to customer questions. The default example covers marketing, customer care and replies to customer questions, with all recipients having opted in.
  3. Choose your use case (we recommend Low Volume Mixed).
  4. Review the five sample messages. They are prefilled from your use case and your brand, and you can customize them. Make sure they match how you will really use SMS.
  5. If your messages will contain links or a phone number, check that box and enter the link you will send. If you do not, carriers can filter messages that contain unexpected links as spam.
  6. Enter the link to your privacy policy (required) and your terms and conditions (optional).
  7. Describe how people consent to receive texts and give the link to that page.

The opt-in keywords and the stop and help keywords are boilerplate you can usually leave as they are.
